'Overweight' is defined as a person who has a BMI, a Body Mass Index, of greater than 25. Persons with a BMI of 30 or more are defined as obese and those with a BMI over 40 are deemed to be severely obese.

Adjustable Gastric Band
Performed by keyhole surgery, an adjustable inflatable band is placed around the top of the stomach to give a sense of fullness.

A non-surgical procedure whereby an inflatable "balloon" is placed into the stomach. The size of the balloon can be varied to reduce the stomach capacity.
